HOW LONG WILL MY TAN LAST?

Totally up to you- most people wear whatever they’re comfortable in, and disposable undergarments are available if needed.

CAN I SPRAY TAN WITH ECZEMA?

Yes, with a little bit of tweaking to the normal prep. We will recommend: not to go too dark, little to no exfoliation, coconut oil 6-12 hours before tan in dry areas, use a basic balm or lotion on affected areas prior to tanning and please let me know!

HOW DOES SPRAY TANNING WORK?

The active ingredient in sunless tanners is DHA (dihydroxy acetone). DHA is approved by the food and drug administration for use in sunless tanning products. DHA is naturally derived from sugar. It synthesizes with the skin’s proteins and amino acids in the outermost layer (epidermis) of the skin, working with your own natural pigments to produce a safe, natural looking tan.

DHA reacts with the dead skin cells, therefore, as those skin cells slough off, so does your tan. Each person has a unique skin cell cycle, affected by numerous factors including, but not limited to, hormones, genetics, age, medications, the environment and products used topically on the skin.

IS SPRAY TANNING PREGNANT SAFE?

Our solution is made of organic ingredients that are not harmful to your client, their unborn child, or their breast milk. BUT it is best to consult with your doctor prior to your spray tan. An ingredients list can be provided upon request.

SENSITIVITIES AND ALLERGIC REACTIONS

The biggest chance of having a skin reaction occur is when a client has just had a shower and exfoliated vigorously, or if the skin is broken. If a client does react to any of our products it will most likely happen instantly.

Allergic reactions to natural ingredients can occur as well.  If a skin reaction occurs, please take a Benadryl for immediate relief and contact your doctor. An ingredients list can be provided upon request.

WAXING/ SHAVING/ MANI/ PEDIS/ FACIALS/ MAKEUP/ LASHES/ HAIR/ ETC.

Waxing and shaving should be done the day before you tan, not the same day. Both of these hair removal methods are a form of exfoliation. Waxing provides a deeper exfoliation and therefore cannot and should not be performed after the tan. It will literally remove the entire tan. You can shave, but we suggest waiting at least a day, and using a fresh new razor along with a non-chemical shaving lotion or cream. We also recommend our tanning extenders if you plan on shaving every day.

Please schedule your spray tan AFTER your manicure/pedicure or other esthetic appointments. If you do not have the opportunity to schedule these beforehand, we advise you wait 3-5 days after your spray tan session.

You can apply makeup after your tan, however we suggest waiting as long as possible, at least 2 hours or the next day would be best! Keep in mind that you’ll want to avoid washing your face while the tan is developing (min 12 hours). Your skin will darken and you may want to use makeup that’s a shade darker than usual. If you must apply makeup the same day as your spray tan is applied, powder is preferred to liquid. SunnaTan products will not affect eyelash extensions, however some eyelashes cannot get wet for 24 hours, so please let us know if you have a fresh set of lashes.

SunnaTan products will not stain or color hair, however it’s recommended if you have lighter hair to use a hair net to protect your hair.

WILL MY SPRAY TAN STAIN MY WEDDING DRESS?

YES! So please shower at least once, we recommend twice before putting your gorgeous dress on, so that there’s no residual bronzer left on the skin. Some brides see small amounts of bronzer rub off where the boning or snug areas under the arms of their dress touches their skin. Warm temperatures and humidity play a factor (destination weddings).

WILL COLOR RUB OFF ON CLOTHES OR STAIN SHEETS?

During the first 12 hours after application, the bronzer may slightly rub off on lighter clothing and sheets. If there’s any color transference, the solution being natural sugar based, should wash out easily. If you are concerned about this happening, please prepare in advance wear dark clothing and avoid sleeping on white or lighter colored sheets.
